Frank Vincent Zappa (Baltimora, 21 dicembre 1940 – Los Angeles, 4 dicembre 1993), è stato un artista straordinario. Cantante, compositore, chitarrista, polistrumentista, Zappa aveva una genialità incredibile. La sua musica spaziava tra vari generi, dal rock al jazz, al blues, alla fusion, con richiami alla classica ed al cabaret.
Molti ritengono che la sua musica sia difficile da ascoltare, ma in realtà è talmente proiettata nel futuro che forse verrà capita tra un decennio.
Ho scelto per voi il brano Flakes, contenuto nell’ album Sheik Yerbouti del 1979. Il disco fu una incredibile genialata di satira, in cui la disco music si fonde con il rock. Il titolo dell’album è un gioco di parole, in quanto è la pronuncia di Shake Your Booty, brano dei KC and the Sunshine Band.
