Oggi sarebbe stato il compleanno del leggendario Bob Marley.
Robert Nesta Marley, era nato a Nine Mile (Giamaica) il 6 febbraio 1945, è stato cantautore, chitarrista e attivista, figura di spicco della musica Reggae.
Esordì nel 1961 con una band formata assieme a Peter Tosh, chiamata The Wailers, iniziò a girare il mondo, facendo conoscere i problemi, ma anche le bellezze della sua terra.
Nella sua carriera, Bob si è sempre battuto contro l’oppressione politica e razziale, raggiungendo la consacrazione mondiale grazie alla hit “No Woman, No Cry”, estratta dall’album Natty Dread.
Bob Marley è stato una sorta di profeta del Rastafari, cosa che purtroppo non gli consentì di curarsi ad un melanoma, che lo portò alla prematura morte a Miami, l’ 11 maggio 1981.
La sua musica è arrivata ai giorni nostri con una straordinaria freschezza, quella della musica sempreverde, che non teme il passare del tempo.
Per ricordarlo, ho pensato di postarvi la canzone “Is This Love”, estratta dall’album “Kaya” del 1978.
