Paul Bruce Dickinson è nato a Worksop (UK) il 7 agosto 1958, la sua carriera musicale cominciò nel 1978 quando entrò in alcuni gruppi dove si fece notare per i suoi acuti altissimi.
Dickinson ha raccontato che scoprì casualmente le sue doti vocali, quando provò a cantare la canzone “Let It Be” dei Beatles.
Dopo avere raggiunto una certa notorietà con i Samson, nel 1981 conobbe il manager degli Iron Maiden che dovevano sostituire Paul Di’Anno, entrando nella band durante il loro tour del 1981, debuttando al Palazzetto dello Sport di Bologna con la canzone “Sanctuary”.
Bruce Dickinson si è laureato nel 1979 in storia, alla Queen Mary, University of London, mentre nel 2011 gli è stata conferita una laurea honoris causa in musica.
Bruce ha anche una buona carriera solista ed ha scritto un paio di romanzi.
The Number of the Beast è il terzo album in studio del gruppo musicale britannico Iron Maiden, pubblicato il 22 marzo 1982 dalla EMI.
È il primo album inciso con il nuovo cantante Bruce Dickinson (in sostituzione di Paul Di’Anno), nonché il primo lavoro del gruppo a raggiungere la vetta della classifica britannica.
