Oggi la cantante e musicista Grace Slick compie 78 anni. Vi posto il brano degli Starship, “We Built This City”, con testo e video.
Grace Barnett Wing, coniugata Slick, è nata ad Evanston (USA) il 30 ottobre 1939.
Nel 1965, durante una esibizione dei Jefferson Airplane, maturò l’ idea di formare una band con il proprio marito, nacquero così i The Great Society.
Nel 1966 la Slick entrò nei Jefferson Airplane, portando con se due brani che entrarono nella leggenda del rock, “White Rabbit” e “Somebody To Love”, veri inni psichedelici dell’era hippy.
Nel 1989 decise di abbandonare la musica, dedicandosi alla pittura ed alla difesa degli animali.
Ho sempre adorato Grace, per la sua energia, la sua voce, la sua bellezza ed il carisma.
Per celebrare il suo compleanno, ho pensato di postarvi il brano degli Starship, We Built This City.
La canzone è stata scritta da Bernie Taupin, Martin Page, Dennis Lambert e Peter Wolf, fu pubblicata come singolo nel 1985.
