Ieri Rod Stewart ha compiuto 73 anni.
Roderick David Stewart è nato a Londra il 10 gennaio 1945. La sua carriera doveva essere quella calcistica, ma rifiutò un contratto da professionista per dedicarsi anima e cuore alla sua grande passione, la musica (e le donne).
Dotato di voce graffiante, un pò roca ma alta, Rod The Mod esordì nella scena del British Blues nel 1964, cantando in un gruppo formato da John Paul Jones (futuro Led Zeppelin) e Mick Fleetwood (fondatore dei Fleetwood Mac), diventando poi cantante per Jeff Beck dove strinse la grande amicizia con il futuro Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood.
Nel 1969 il Jeff Beck Group si sciolse, così Stewart entrò a far parte dei Faces, formati da Ronnie Wood (chitarra), Ronnie Lane (basso), Ian McLagan (tastiere) e Kenney Jones (batteria).
La band durò fino al 1975, anno in cui Ronnie Wood entrò nei Rolling Stones al posto di Mick Taylor.
Stewart cominciò una straordinaria carriera solista, che lo ha portato ai giorni nostri vincendo vari premi, come 1 Grammy Award nel 2005, 1 BRIT Awards nel 1993, 1 American Music Award nel 1994 e 2 World Music Award nel 1993, nel 2001 e nel 2008.
