La sua carriera musicale cominciò intorno al 1964, prendendo ispirazione da Beatles, Rolling Stones, poi qualche anno più tardi pensò di chiamare la band in Alice Cooper, che a detta sua rappresentava “l’immagine di una ragazzina con un lecca lecca in una mano e un coltello da macellaio nell’altra”.
Importante fu l’ incontro con Frank Zappa, che aiutò la band a pubblicare il primo album nel 1969, suscitando accuse da diverse associazioni pouritane americane, sia per il look macabro, sia per gli argomenti quali la morte, la necrofilia, le torture.
Nel 1971 fu Bob Ezrin ad aiutare la band per il 3° album, intitolato “Love It to Death”, che grazie al brano “I’m Eighteen” diventò disco d’oro.
Alice Cooper ha preso parte come attore in alcuni telefilm e film, come in una puntata di Detective Monk, ma sopratutto recitando la parte di se stesso in “Dark Shadows” di Tim Burton, al fianco di Johnny Depp.
Per celebrare il suo 68° compleanno, ho pensato di postarvi la canzone “Poison”, estratta dall’ album “The Last Temptation”del 1994.
