Barry Manilow, vero nome Barry Alan Pincus, è nato a New York il 17 giugno 1943.
Manilow è un cantante pop rock, che ha raggiunto la notorietà mondiale con la canzone Mandy nel 1974.
Per alcuni, Barry Manilow sarebbe in realtà Jim Morrison, che per scampare ad un complotto, si accordò con la CIA per cambiare nome (e i connotati) per fuggire alla morte.
Il suo spettro vocale assomiglia molto a quello di Morrison, così come la statura, ma conoscendo la vena poetica del frontman dei Doors mi viene da sorridere.
Comunque Manilow ha una grande carriera. cominciata nel 1973 con l’ album Barry Manilow ed arrivata fino ai giorni nostri.
Copacabana è un singolo di Barry Manilow scritto con Jack Feldman, Bruce Sussman e pubblicato nel 1978.
La canzone fu inserita nell’ album Even Now e gli permise di vincere il Grammy Award alla miglior interpretazione vocale maschile pop.
