La musica piange la scomparsa del grande Bill Withers, morto all’età di 81 anni. Ho pensato di ricordarlo con la stupenda hit “Lean on Me”, con testo e video.

Bill Withers, vero nome William Harrison Withers, Jr., era nato a Slab Fork il 4 luglio 1938.
La sua carriera musicale, cominciò intorno alla metà degli anni ’60, ma è stato attivo principalmente dal 1970 al 1985.
Passato alla storia della musica Soul e R&B, con canzoni come Lean on Me, Ain’t No Sunshine, Use Me, Just the Two of Us, Lovely Day e Grandma’s Hands, si ritirò dopo il 1985, continuando a ricevere premi.
Lean on Me è un brano scritto e interpretato da Bill Withers, pubblicato nel 1972 come singolo estratto dal secondo album in studio dell’artista, intitolato Still Bill.
Nel 2007, Lean on Me, è stata inserita della Grammy Hall of Fame.
Lean on Me è diventata un inno dei sanitari che ogni giorno rischiano la vita per l’emergenza del Covid-19.
Withers si è spento a Los Angeles il 30 marzo 2020, a causa di complicazioni cardiache.
