Oggi è il compleanno del geniale Alan Parsons.
Musicista, cantautore e tecnico del suono, fondatore con Eric Woolfson, del gruppo progressive rock The Alan Parsons Project.
Nato a Londra il 20 dicembre 1948, Alan iniziò a lavorare come ingegnere del suono verso la metà degli anni ’60, presso i leggendari Abbey Road Studios e nel 1969 si trovava al mixer per il monumentale album “Abbey Road” dei Beatles e divenne collaboratore di Paul McCartney per alcuni suoi album solisti.
Nel 1970 Alan Parsons si trovò al mixaggio del disco “Atom Heart Mother” dei Pink Floyd e tre anni più tardi fu fondamentale il suo lavoro per il leggendario album “The Dark Side Of The Moon”.
Nel 1975 assieme ad Eric Woolfson (scomaparso il 2 dicembre 2009) fondò gli Alan parsons Project, una band innovativa in cui il pop, il rock, la psichedelia ed il progressive si mischiavano per concept album (e non solo) di grande valore.
Ho visto due volte Alan Parsons in concerto, rimanendo affascinato dalla qualità espressa durante i live e dal grande valore dei vari membri della band.
Alan Parsons è attualmente sempre in attività, anche se l’ ultima uscita discografica è “The Sicilian Defence” del 2014.
