Dr John, vero nome Malcolm John “Mac” Rebennack, Jr., conosciuto anche come Dr. John Creaux, o Dr. John the Night Tripper, (New Orleans, 21 novembre 1940 – New Orleans, 6 giugno 2019), è stato un cantautore, pianista e chitarrista statunitense.
La sua musica fonde la tradizione blues, pop e jazz con lo zydeco, il boogie-woogie ed il rock and roll.
Nella sua lunga carriera ha ricevuto 5 Grammy Awards e nel 2011 è stato introdotto nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Fonte Wikipedia)

“Down in New Orleans” è una canzone del film d’animazione Disney del 2009 La principessa e il ranocchio , scritta da Randy Newman . Diverse versioni della canzone sono state registrate per essere utilizzate in diverse parti del film e altri materiali. La canzone è stata nominata per la migliore canzone originale al 82 ° Academy Awards , ma ha perso a ” The Weary Kind ” di Crazy Heart . La versione completa della canzone appare nella sequenza dei titoli nel film, eseguita dal Dr. John .
