Ginger Baker, vero nome Peter Edward Baker, era nato a Lewisham il 19 agosto 1939.
Il suo stile influenzato dal jazzista Phil Seaman, che aggiunto al suo talento ed aggressività, lo portarono ad essere in tour già a 16 anni.
Il successo mondiale arrivò con i Cream, superband formata da Ginger Baker alla batteria, Eric Clapton alla chitarra e voce e Jack Bruce al basso e voce.
Dopo lo scioglimento della band, suonò con i Blind Faith, poi formò i Ginger Baker’s Air Force.
Nella sua lunga carriera , Baker ha avuto collaborazioni importantissime, ma anche momenti bui.
Nel 1991 è stato inserito nella Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame.
La rivista Rolling Stone ha inserito Ginger Baker al terzo posto nella lista dei 100 migliori batteristi di sempre, dietro ai soli John Bonham e Keith Moon. (Fonte Wikipedia)
