Nel post di oggi ho voluto ricordare il grande batterista Jeff Porcaro, con la canzone dei Toto, “I’ll Be Over You”, con testo e video ufficiale.

Jeffrey Thomas Porcaro (Hartford, 1º aprile 1954 – Hidden Hills, 5 agosto 1992) è stato un batterista statunitense. È considerato uno dei più grandi batteristi di tutti i tempi per la notevole tecnica, il gusto negli arrangiamenti e la capacità di spaziare in più ambiti musicali.
Il pomeriggio del 5 agosto 1992 Porcaro era intento a spruzzare un pesticida nel giardino di casa sua a Hidden Hills, Los Angeles, California, assieme ai figli, quando improvvisamente cadde a terra privo di sensi. Fu immediatamente trasportato in ospedale ma non c’era più niente da fare. (Fonte Wikipedia)
Jeff iniziò a suonare la batteria intorno ai sette anni, imparando dal padre percussionista Joe Porcaro.
I suoi idoli musicali erano Keith Moon, Buddy Rich, Art Blakey, John Bonham, ma ben presto divenne lui un modello da seguire per le nuove generazioni.
Nel 1972 accompagnò gli show estivi di Sonny & Cher, poi l’ anno successivo entrò negli Steely Dan.
Nel 1976 assieme ad alti turnisti, quali David Paich, David Hungate, Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball e Steve Porcaro formò i Toto.
Nel 1978 debuttarono con l’album intitolato Toto, contenente la hit “Hold The Line”, che vendette oltre 2 milioni di copie.
La canzone I’ll Be Over You, è estratta dall’album Fahrenheit del 1986.
