Otis Ray Redding Jr. (Dawson, 9 settembre 1941 – Madison, 10 dicembre 1967) è stato uno dei cantanti di sbicco della Black Music.
La sua voce, il suo stile inconfondibile, hanno fatto da scuola a tante generazioni di cantanti. Uno dei cantanti che più ha preso ispirazione da Otis, è sicuramente Mick Jagger, che lo ha omaggiato con bellissime cover.
Otis Redding morì assieme ad altri 6 compagni, in un incidente d’ aereo vicino al lago Monona, nei pressi di Madison nel Wisconsin. L’unico che sopravvisse al tragico incidente fu Ben Cauley.
In suo ricordo vi posto la bellissima I’ve Been Loving You Too Long , spesso intitolata anche I’ve Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now). Il brano fu pubblicato nel 1965.
