Peter Brian Gabriel è nato a Chobham (UK) il 13 febbraio 1950, la sua carriera cominciò intorno alla metà degli anni ’60, quando assieme a degli aqmici mise su una band che poco tempo dopo divennero i Genesis, una dei più grandi gruppi di Rock Progressive.
Lo stile vocale di Peter è ispirato alla musica Soul, ma in particolare ad artisti come Gary Brooker dei Procol Harum.
Quando nel 1975 abbandonò i Genesis, Peter Gabriel cominciò una straordinaria carriera solista, in cui ha “esplorato” vari generi musicali, dal rock al pop, diventando uno dei capostipiti della World Music.
Per celebrare il suo compleanno, ho pensato di postarvi la straordinaria canzone “Sledgehammer”, estratta dall’ ottimo album “So” del 1986, che gli valse tre candidature ai Grammy Awards del 1987, come miglior interpretazione rock vocale maschile, canzone dell’anno e registrazione dell’anno.
