Prince, vero nome Prince Roger Nelson, era nato a Minneapolis (USA) il 7 giugno 1958.
Cominciò la sua carriera musicale nel 1978, quando esordì con l’ album “For You”, scritto, composto e suonato interamente da lui.
Cantautore, polistrumentista, compositore, produttore discografico, attore, regista, nella sua carriera ha spaziato nei vari generi musicali : Rock, Blues, Funk , Soul, Pop, mostrando grande duttilità sia vocale che musicale.
Il grande successo arrivò nel 1984, quando pubblicò l’album “Purple Rain”, accompagnato dall’ omonimo film che vinse l’ Oscar come miglior colonna sonora con canzoni originali, mentre la canzone “When Doves Cry” conquistò il Golden Globe.
Nel 2004 la rivista Rolling Stone, lo ha inserì al 27º posto nella lista dei 100 migliori artisti, al 30° in quella dei 100 migliori cantanti di sempre ed al 34° in quella dei 100 migliori chitarristi di sempre (Fonte Wikipedia)
Call My Name è una canzone di Prince , contenuta nel suo album del 2004 Musicology . La canzone vinse il Grammy Award nel 2005 per la migliore performance vocale maschile R&B.
