Il 9 febbraio 1981, moriva il leggendario Bill Haley, uno dei capostipiti del rock’n roll. In suo ricordo vi posto il brano See You Later Alligator, con testo e video.
William John Clifton Haley, alias Bill Haley, era nato a Highland Park (USA) il 6 luglio 1925.
Iniziò la sua carriera intorno al 1946, ma raggiunse il grande successo nel 1955, con la sua band chiamata Bill Haley & His Comets, grazie ad uno dei primi brani di rock and roll, la stupenda “Rock Around The Clock”, che era la colonna sonora del film “Il seme della violenza”, poi nel 1974 fu riutilizzata come sigla di “Happy Days”.
Affiancò la sua carriera di cantante a quella di attore, con film di buon livello come Round Up Of Rhythm (1954), The Blackboard Jungle (1955), Don’t Knock The Rock (1956), Rock Around The Clock (1956), The London Rock And Roll Show (1973), Let The Good Times Roll (1973), Blue Suede Shoes (1980), prendendo parte anche a diversi musical.
Nel 1980 gli fu diagnosticato un tumore al cervello, che lo portò alla morte ad Harlingen, il 9 febbraio 1981.
See You Later Alligator fu scritta e composta dal cantautore Bobby Charles nel 1955, ma arrivò al successo l’ anno successivo grazie a Bill Haley.
