Rod Stewart, vero nome Roderick David Stewart è nato a Londra il 10 gennaio 1945.
Dotato di voce graffiante, un pò roca ma alta, Rod The Mod esordì nella scena del British Blues nel 1964, cantando in un gruppo formato da John Paul Jones (futuro Led Zeppelin) e Mick Fleetwood (fondatore dei Fleetwood Mac), diventando poi cantante per Jeff Beck dove strinse la grande amicizia con il futuro Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood.
Nel 1969 il Jeff Beck Group si sciolse, così Stewart entrò a far parte dei Faces, formati da Ronnie Wood (chitarra), Ronnie Lane (basso), Ian McLagan (tastiere) e Kenney Jones (batteria).
La band durò fino al 1975, anno in cui Ronnie Wood entrò nei Rolling Stones al posto di Mick Taylor.
Stewart cominciò una straordinaria carriera solista, che lo ha portato ai giorni nostri vincendo vari premi, come 1 Grammy Award nel 2005, 1 BRIT Awards nel 1993, 1 American Music Award nel 1994 e 2 World Music Award nel 1993, nel 2001 e nel 2008.
Rod Stewart, prima di intraprendere la strada musicale, rifiutò un contratto da professionista nel calcio inglese.
Gasoline Alley è un brano estratto dall’omonimo album di Stewart uscito nel 1970 scritto assieme a Ron Wood.
