Roger Waters, ex leader dei Pink Floyd, ha pubblicato una nuova versione di The Bravery of Being Out of Range, contenuta nell’album Amused to Death del 1992.
Waters ha spiegato così il motivo della scelta:
Questa è una nuova registrazione e video di “The Bravery of Being Out of Range” dal mio album del 1992,
“Amused to Death”. Presenta parte del discorso d’addio di Ronald Reagan alla nazione quando concluse il mandato. Includo il discorso perché la prima strofa della canzone parla di Reagan, lui è il vecchio a cui io mi sto rivolgendo. Reagan è ancora venerato da molti, anche se è un criminale di guerra di massa che, tra i suoi molti altri crimini, ha consapevolmente sostenuto il genocidio del popolo Maya del Guatemala quando era presidente degli Stati Uniti. Il suo assistente segretario di Stato all’epoca del genocidio, l’altrettanto omicida Elliot Abrams, lavora ancora per elementi sgradevoli negli attuali circoli del governo degli Stati Uniti. Il secondo verso parla di “Desert Storm”, quindi il secondo uomo anziano è Bush Senior che ha massacrato tutte quelle truppe irachene disarmate che si ritiravano dal Kuwait su ordine di Bush sulla strada per Bassora. Il terzo verso era qualcosa che ho scritto quando, disgustato com’ero dal fatto che “trent’anni dopo” gli Stati Uniti stanno ancora distribuendo la morte agli innocenti in nome della libertà, abbiamo deciso di fare questa canzone come bis in Lettonia. Trump? Biden? Ancora sganciano bombe, ancora uccidono persone innocenti. Le stesse disgustose marionette dei falchi da guerra. Andiamo AMERICA, è ora di MAN UP e dire BASTA UCCIDERE I BAMBINI PER OTTENERE IL NOSTRO MODO, NIENTE PIÙ GUERRE IMPERIALI. ANDIAMO A CASA E METTIAMO IN ORDINE LA NOSTRA CASA! PERCHÉ È FOTTUTO.
