Sade, vero nome Helen Folasade Adu, è nata a Ibadan, Nigeria, il 16 gennaio 1959.
Nata da padre nigeriano e madre inglese, Helen si trasferì con la famiglia in Inghilterra, poco dopo la nascita.
Nei primi anni ’80 era cantante di due gruppi funk, poi fondò la sua band che esordì nel 1984, nel programma TV The Tube di Channel 4.
Il suo stile, fatto di pop, R&B, Soul, Jazz, l’ hanno portata assieme alla sua band, ad essere inserita alla posizione n° 50 dei “100 più grandi artisti di tutti i tempi”.
Nel 2002, è stata insignita del titolo di Ufficiale dell’Ordine dell’Impero Britannico. (Fonte Wikipedia)
