Oggi il fondatore dei Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett, compirebbe 72 anni. In suo ricordo, vi posto il brano “Terrapin”, con testo e video.
Il 6 gennaio 1946 nasceva a Cambridge (UK) Roger Keith Barrett, detto Syd, cantautore, chitarrista, compositore e pittore, fondatore e leader dei Pink Floyd dal 1965 al 1968, anno in cui lasciò la band per problemi mentali accentuati dall’ abuso di droghe, ma anche da una possibile Sindrome di Asperger.
Syd morì a Cambridge il 7 luglio 2006, per un tumore al pancreas, dopo avere passato una vita in isolamento finendo la sua carriera musicale nel 1970, con l’ album “Barrett “.
Syd Barrett era un genio, uno sperimentatore di suoni, ma sopratutto uno dei massimi esponenti della psichedelia, dove la scenografia, i ritmi, la musica, le luci venivano unite per un viaggio lisergico, tra sogno e realtà.
Purtroppo, quel viaggio lisergico annientò la sua vita, dopo solo una serie di singoli di successo, un album (The Piper At The Gates Of Down del 1967) ed un marginale contributo in “A Saucerfull Of Secrects” del 1968, con il passaggio di consegne a David Gilmour.
La canzone “Terrapin” è contenuta nell’album “The Madcap Laughs” del 1970. Fu il primo lavoro solista del cantautore, a cui partecipò David Gilmour come bassista.
