Elton John, vero nome Reginald Kenneth Dwight è nato a Pinner (UK) il 25 marzo 1947.
Cantautore, musicista e compositore, Elton è uno dei maggiori artisti del rock contemporaneo.
In attività dal 1964, la rivista Rolling Stone lo ha inserito al 49º posto nella sua lista dei 100 migliori artisti di tutti i tempi ed al 38º posto delle 100 migliori voci di tutti i tempi.
Artista straordinario, nella sua carriera ha conquistato 25 dischi di platino e 35 d’oro, ha vinto sei Grammy Awards.
Tiny Dancer è una delle più famose canzoni scritte e interpretate da Elton John, con testo di Bernie Taupin. È inclusa nell’album Madman Across the Water, del 1971. La canzone è dedicata a Maxine Feibelman, la prima moglie di Taupin; il titolo significa letteralmente “piccola ballerina”. La melodia vocale, molto dolce, è sostenuta dalle complesse architetture armoniche del pianoforte di Elton John, ed è arricchita dal vivace suono delle percussioni e della chitarra pedal steel, suonata da B.
