Il 4 gennaio 2011 moriva il cantautore Gerry Rafferty. In suo ricordo, vi posto il brano “Right Down The Line”, con testo e video.
Oggi vorrei parlarvi di Gerry Rafferty, cantautore e musicista che la musica ha un pò dimenticato.
Gerald Rafferty era nato a Paisley (Scozia) il 16 aprile 1947, le sue prime esibizioni avvennero nella metropolitana di Londra, dove guadagnava qualche Sterlina esibendosi e facendosi notare.
Dopo la collaborazione con Billy Connolly nel 1971, l’ anno seguente entrò negli Stealers Wheel, con cui raggiunse la notorietà grazie alla hit “Stuck in the Middle “.
Nel 1975 la band si sciolse e Gerry cominciò un ‘altalenante carriera solista, il cui apice fu toccato dall’ album “City to City” del 1978, trascinato dalla stupenda hit “Baker Street“, che gli permise di raggiungere le vette delle classifiche inglesi e statunitensi.
Il 4 gennaio 2011, Gerry morì a soli 64 anni, a seguito di problemi al fegato.
Per ricordarlo ho pensato di postarvi la canzone “Right Down The Line”, estratta dall’album “City To City” del 1978.
