Marianne Faithfull è una scrittrice, cantante ed attrice, fu negli anni ’60 un punto di riferimento della Swinging London femminile.
Marianne Evelyn Faithfull è nata ad Hampstead (UK) il 29 dicembre 1946. Di origini nobili in quanto la madre era una pronipote di Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.
Il suo nome inizialmente fu molto legato ai Rolling Stones, in quanto compagna di Mick Jagger, con cui scrisse ed interpretò le canzoni “As Tears Go By” e “Sister Morphine”.
Gli anni ’60 passarono tra alcune interpretazioni cinematografiche ed eccessi di ogni sorta, a cui seguì un periodo di riflessione dopo la fine della storia con Jagger.
La Faithfull tornò nel 1979 con un album bellissimo (che vi invito ad ascoltare), “Broken English” che la rilanciò con un successo sempre crescente.
La canzone è estratta dall’album Broken English. Nel 1991, fu utilizzata nella colonna sonora del film “Thelma & Louise”.
