Ricordando Michael Hutchence
Era il 22 novembre 1997, quando Michael Hutchence, cantante, attore leader della band degli INXS morì per cause mai chiarite.
Michael Kelland John Hutchence era nato a Sydney il 22 gennaio 1960. Nel 1977 Michael assieme agli amici Gary Beers e Kirk Pengilly, fondarono la band “The Farriss Brothers”, che due anni più tardi cambiò nome in INXS.
Nel 1997 la band stava concludendo il tour mondiale in Australia, quando la mattina del 22 novembre fu ritrovato morto nella camera 524 dell’hotel Ritz-Carlton a Sydney.
Non si è mai capito se la morte fu causata da un suicidio, dovuto alla depressione per uso di alcol e droga, o se da un gioco erotico finito male. Il funerale si svolse alla Cattedrale di St. Andrew, con il feretro portato dai membri della band assieme al fratello di Michael, Rhett, e da Bono degli U2, mentre veniva passata la musica di “Never Tear Us Apart” degli INXS.
Simon Le Bon, che aveva scritto la canzone “You’ve Got A Lot To Answer For”, in segno della grande amicizia con Hutchence, provò a cantarla durante un concerto, ma scoppiò a piangere e quel brano non fu mai più riproposto. Gli U2 nel 2000 pubblicarono la canzone “Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of”, in memoria del cantante scomparso.
Never Tear Us Apart è un singolo del gruppo rock australiano INXS, pubblicato nell’agosto 1988. Il brano è estratto dal sesto album in studio Kick.
