Il 21 aprile 2016 scompariva il Genio di Minneapolis, Prince. In suo ricordo vi posto il brano When Doves Cry, con testo e video.
Prince Rogers Nelson, alias Prince , era nato a Minneapolis (USA) il 7 giugno 1958 ed aveva cominciato la sua carriera musicale nel 1978, quando esordì con l’ album “For You”, scritto, composto e suonato interamente da lui.
Nel 1984 pubblicò il monumentale album “Purple Rain”, accompagnato dall’ omonimo film che vince l’ Oscar come miglior colonna sonora con canzoni originali, mentre la canzone “When Does Cry” conquistò il Golden Globe.
Cantautore, polistrumentista, compositore, produttore discografico, attore, regista. Prince negli anni ha spaziato nei vari generi musicali con grande estro, mostrando tutta la sua capacità di essere un fuoriclasse come pochi: Rock, Blues, Funk, Soul, Pop, tutti eseguiti con uno stile proprio.
Ricordo bene quel 1984, avevo 15 anni e rimasi affascinato da Purple Rain, lui suonava e cantava con grande maestria, irrompendo nel pop con uno stile innovativo ed allo stesso tempo conservatore, facendosi subito avvicinare a Jimi Hendrix per quella sua voglia di sperimentare e sorprendere.
