William George Perks, questo il suo vero nome, è nato a Penge (UK) il 24 ottobre 1936.
Nel 1962 entrò nei Rolling Stones, perchè aveva una strumentazione propria, ma ben presto dimostrò le sue potenzialità.
Con Charlie Watts formò la solida base ritmica degli Stones, componendo e cantando il brano “In another Land”, contenuto nell’album Their Satanic Majesties Request del 1967.
Bill Wyman è sempre stato lontano dalle esagerazioni di Jagger e Richards, dando scandalo nel 1989, per il matrimonio con Mandy Smith, con cui iniziò la relazione quando lei aveva 14 anni.
Nel 1992 lasciò la band per continuare come solista, suonando il blues che ha sempre amato, formando la band dei Rhythm Kings.
La canzone Respectable è contenuta nell’album Some Girls dei Rolling Stones del 1978.
