John Lennon veniva ucciso 40 anni fa. In suo ricordo, vi posto il suo brano dei Beatles “Watching The Wheels”, con testo e video.

Era l’ 8 dicembre del 1980, John Lennon stava per rincasare con Yoko Ono nel palazzo dove risiedevano, il Dakota Building nell’Upper West Side di New York.
Un giovane di nome David Chapman si avvicinò e disse “Hey, Mr. Lennon!” e sparò 5 colpi di rivoltella verso il musicista.
Un colpo andò a vuoto, 4 colpirono l’ ex Beatles, di cui uno gli trafisse l’ aorta, che cadendo a terra fece in tempo a dire “I was shot” per poi perdere i sensi e non svegliarsi più.
John fu portato d’ urgenza al Roosevelt Hospital, dove purtroppo lo dichiararono morto alle 23.07.
Se ne andava così a 40 anni il leggendario John Winston Ono Lennon, cantautore, polistrumentista, paroliere, attivista ed attore cinematografico, leggendario membro dei The Beatles.
John era nato a Liverpool il 9 ottobre 1940, con i Beatles aveva scritto pagine importanti non solo della musica, ma anche della storia , battendosi con i suoi testi, la sua musica, il suo genio, contro le guerre e le discriminazioni, diventando un’icona del pacifismo.
Watching the Wheels è un singolo postumo di Lennon, pubblicato nel 1981 ed estratto dall’album Double Fantasy un anno dopo la sua morte.
