Oggi il cantautore e musicista J.J. Cale avrebbe compiuto 82 anni. Ho pensato di ricordarlo con il brano Magnolia, con testo e video.
Ricordando J.J.
John Weldon “J.J.” Cale (Oklahoma City, 5 dicembre 1938 – La Jolla, 26 luglio 2013) è stato un cantautore e musicista, nonchè uno dei padri fondatori del Tulsa Sound.
Artista importantissimo per avere scritto brani che hanno fatto la storia della musica, come Cocaine ed After Midnight, portati al successo da Eric Clapton., ma anche per altri artisti come Lynyrd Skynyrd e Captain Beefheart,
Il suo stile inconfondibile, in cui blues, country e jazz si fondono per formare il Tulsa Sound, è stato un punto di riferimento per band straordinarie come i Dire Straits.
Nel 2006 J.J. Cale vinse un Grammy Award con The Road to Escondido, album realizzato con Eric Clapton.
Cale morì improvvisamente a 74 anni, a seguito di un attacco di cuore.
Il brano Magnolia è contenuto nel suo album Naturally del 1972.
