John Densmore, leggendario batterista dei The Doors, oggi compie 76 anni. Per celebrarlo vi posto il brano “The Crystal Ship”, con testo e video.

John Paul Densmore è nato a Los Angeles (USA) il 1º dicembre 1944, all’ età di 10 anni fu costretto a prendere lezioni di piano, ma non amando ne la musica classica ne lo strumento, quando arrivò al ginnasio si comprò una batteria ed iniziò a suonarla.
Nel 1965 formò i Doors con Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek e Robby Krieger e vi rimase fino allo scioglimento del 1973, due anni dopo la morte di Re Lucertola.
John Densmore è un batterista fondamentale per il rock, grazie alle sue divagazioni jazzistiche e blues, con uno stile innovativo, in cui lo strumento era concepito come una sorta di seconda voce, capace di accentuare le liriche di Morrison.
The Crystal Ship è una canzone dei The Doors, contenuta nel loro album omonimo del 1967.
Il coautore John Densmore ha dichiarato: “Jim scrisse The Crystal Ship per Mary Werbelow nel 1964, una ragazza con cui si stava per lasciare, la canzone si trovava nel suo famoso quaderno di poesie che aveva quando ci formammo. (Fonte Wikipedia)
