Il 15 aprile 2001, scompariva a soli 50 anni Joey Ramone, voce dei Ramones e del punk americano. In suo ricordo il brano Baby I Love You, con testo e video.
Jeffrey Ross Hyman , alias Joey Ramone, era nato a New York il 19 maggio 1951.
Da piccolo soffriva di un disturbo ossessivo-compulsivo, si avvicinò alla musica ascoltando i Beatles, gli Who, ma sopratutto Iggy Pop.
Quando si formarono i Ramones nel 1974, Joey suonava la batteria, ma ben presto divenne il cantante per sopperire alle difficoltà a cantare mentre suonava il bassista Dee Dee.
Dopo lo scioglimento della band, Ramone continuò con un’ottima carriera solista, finita a causa di un tumore al sistema linfatico.
Joey è stato uno dei cantanti più apprezzati del punk a livello mondiale.
La canzone è una cover dei The Ronettes del 1963. Fu scritta da Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich e Phil Spector.
La canzone è contenuta nell’album End of the Century del 1980.
