Oggi il leggendario John Lennon avrebbe compiuto 77 anni. In suo ricordo, vi posto il brano dei Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever”.
John Winston Ono Lennon era nato a Liverpool il 9 ottobre 1940, è stato cantautore, musicista, attivista, attore, cofondatore dei Beatles.
Non è facile scrivere in poche righe quello che ha rappresentato Lennon nella storia della musica. Forse basterebbe accostare il suo nome a quello dei Beatles, ma sarebbe riduttivo per quello che ha fatto fuori della band.
La sua voce, la sua musica, il suo carisma, la sua lotta contro le guerre e contro le ingiustizie, sono di un’attualità incredibile.
Purtroppo, John fu ucciso l’ 8 dicembre 1980 a New York, per mano di Mark Chapman che gli sparò mentre Lennon stava rincasando con la moglie Yoko Ono.
Strawberry Fields Forever è una canzone dei Beatles, pubblicata come singolo nel febbraio 1967 insieme a Penny Lane. È uno degli esempi più significativi di rock psichedelico della band. Raggiunse il numero due in Gran Bretagna e l’ottavo posto negli USA, ed è stata descritta da numerosi critici come uno dei brani migliori del gruppo. (Fonte Wikipedia).
