Gary Rossington, leggendario chitarrista fondatore dei Lynyrd Skynyrd è morto a 72 anni. In suo ricordo, vi posto il brano That Smell, con testo e video.

Gary Robert Rossington (Jacksonville, 4 dicembre 1951 – 5 marzo 2023) è stato uno dei chitarristi più influenti della scena Southern Rock.
In attività dal 1964, fondò i Lynyrd Skynyrd, che giustamente sono stati inseriti nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame il 13 marzo 2006, e collocati al 95º posto nella lista dei 100 migliori artisti secondo Rolling Stone.
Gary era sopravvissuto al grave incidente aereo del 1977, che gli costò la rottura di entrambe le braccia, una gamba ed il bacino, con stomaco e fegato perforati, cosa che lo tenne lontano dalle scene due anni.
That Smell è un brano dei Lynyrd Skynyrd, scritta dal cantante Ronnie Van Zant e dal chitarrista Allen Collins per l’album Street Survivors del 1977.
La canzone era un monito contro gli abusi di droghe ed alcol, i due scrittori avevano tratto ispirazione dall’ incidente in macchina di Gary Rossington.
Van Zant raccontò che aveva un triste presagio sul futuro della band, purtroppo avveratosi tre giorni dopo l’uscita del disco, in quel tragico incidente aereo, era il 20 ottobre 1977.
