Il 5 febbraio del 1991, usciva l’ ultimo album dei Queen con Freddy Mercury, Innuendo. Nel post testo e video della title track.
L’ album è il 14° della band, purtroppo l’ultimo con Freddy Mercury vivo, che morì il 24 novembre del solito anno, a causa dell’ AIDS.
Innuendo è un capolavoro, in cui il rock si fonde con vari generi, dal pop al flamenco all’ hard rock.
Ricordo benissimo l’ uscita del disco, non sapevamo ancora delle condizioni di salute di Mercury, ma qualcosa nel sound si percepiva una certa atmosfera non proprio allegra.
Mercury, come David Bowie un anno fa, ha chiuso la carriera con un album indimenticabile, che non può mancare nella collezione di un amante del rock.
La copertina del disco, prendeva ispirazione dalle illustrazioni del caricaturista francese Jean-Ignace-Isidore Gérard, noto come Grandville (Nancy, 13 settembre 1803 – Vanves, 17 marzo 1847).
Il memorabile assolo di flamenco, contenuto in Innuendo, è eseguito da Steve Howe degli Yes.
