Michael “Mick” Ronson (Kingston upon Hull, 26 maggio 1946 – Londra, 29 aprile 1993) è stato un chitarrista glam rock inglese, conosciuto prevalentemente come collaboratore negli arrangiamenti di David Bowie e del suo gruppo musicale The Spiders from Mars nonché per aver coprodotto insieme a quest’ultimo il secondo album solista di Lou Reed, Transformer.(Fonte Wikipedia)
Mick Ronson è stato un chitarrista straordinario, molto dotato tecnicamente, ma anche sperimentatore di suoni. Purtroppo come chitarrista è stato spesso snobbato per i soliti nomi, ma il suo apporto alla musica rock è stato fondamentale.
Pensate al suo periodo nei The Spiders from Mars di Bowie, assoli spettacolari, dove il rock, il blues, la psichedelia aprivano a quello che anni dopo sarebbe diventato il Punk.
Watch That Man è un brano di David Bowie, prima traccia dell’album Aladdin Sane del 1973.
David Bowie , per la canzone che apriva l’ album, scelse un sound più ruvido per non rimanere etichettato nel glam rock, ispirandosi allo stile dei Rolling Stones, con la chitarra di Mick Ronson che prendeva il sopravvento sul cantato.
Secondo alcuni, il brano era una dedica a Mick Jagger.
