Eric Patrick Clapton è nato a Ripley (UK) il 30 marzo 1945 ed è uno dei più grandi chitarristi di sempre.
In attività dal 1962, Slowhand è considerato il secondo chitarrista di sempre, dietro solo a Jimi Hendrix, grazie alla sua tecnica tipicamente blues ed ad un vibrato intenso come i suoi assoli.
Cantante, compositore, chitarrista, nella sua carriera ha fatto parte di straordinari gruppi, come The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonnie, Derek and the Dominos, collaborando con artisti come Beatles, Rolling Stones, Roger Waters ed altri ancora.
Personalmente ritengo Eric un fantastico chitarrista, capace di suonare prima con il cuore e poi con la tecnica, riuscendo come pochi altri, ad imprimere sensazioni uniche.
La rivista Rolling Stone, lo ha collocato al secondo posto della Classifica dei migliori chitarristi di sempre, dietro a Jimi Hendrix.
Sinceramente non amo le classifiche, posso dire che se ho imparato ad amare il blues, lo devo a lui e band come i Rolling Stones.
