Mike Oldfield, vero nome Michael Gordon Oldfield, è nato a Reading (UK) il 15 maggio 1953.
Compositore e polistrumentista, iniziò la sua carriera nel 1968 con la sorella Sally.
Nel 1972 fu Branson con la nascente Virgin a metterlo sotto contratto, facendogli pubblicare il monumentale “Tubular Bells”, in cui Mike suona oltre 20 strumenti da solo.
Nel 1973 “Tubular Bells” fu usato come colonna sonora del film “L’ Esorcista”, guadagnandosi la fama mondiale.
Nel 1983 pubblicò l’ album “Crises”, da cui è estratto il suo più grande successo commerciale, “Moonlight Shadow”, cantato da Maggie Relly.
Oldfield è sicuramente uno dei più talentuosi polistrumentisti e compositori che abbia mai sentito, capace di spaziare dal progressive al rock, dal pop alla new age, dalla musica classica al folk rimanendo fedele al suo inconfondibile stile.
La canzone Nuclear è estratta dall’album Man on the Rocks del 2014, che segnò il suo ritorno alla casa discografica Virgin.
Il brano Nuclear è stato scelto da Hideo Kojima per il trailer del videogioco Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, presentato all’Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014. (Fonte Wikipedia)
