George “Buddy” Guy è nato a Lettsworth (USA) il 30 luglio 1936.
Buddy è uno dei capostipiti del blues elettrico americano, uno degli ultimi rimasti in vita, ma comunque sempre attivo tra album e tour.
Eric Clapton lo ha definito uno dei migliori chitarristi blues di sempre, cosa che concordo pienamente, perchè Buddy Guy è un mix di esplosività e genialità.
Il suo modo di suonare la chitarra fu veramente innovativo, tanto da influenzare musicisti come Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan e molti altri ancora.
Rimasi impressionato dalla sua grande performance al Pistoia Blues, con la sua voce, la sua musica e la grande simpatia. Un concerto coinvolgente dalla prima nota all’ultima.
La canzone Five Long Years è un blues di Eddie Boyd. Guy pubblicò la sua versione nel disco Buddy and the Juniors del 1970.
